VALETING OR DETAILING? WHAT SUITS YOUR CAR BEST
Deciding if your car needs to be detailed or valeted can be difficult, especially as there are plenty of misconceptions about the differences between them. This page will hopefully give you an insight into this industry and gain you a greater understanding of what service you would like to have completed on your car.
Valeting
Valeting a car is cleaning it. It is the quickest and most cost effective way of improving the look of your car.
When dirt and grime is allowed to remain on a cars exterior for a long period of time it can cause significant damage to the top layers of the clear coat and paintwork reducing the gloss levels and overall ‘new car’ appearance.
Regularly valeting the exterior of a car can reduce this and maintain its shine. At Rose Detailing, my goal is to enhance and protect the existing paint finish. This involves carefully removing the dirt and grime whilst using expert techniques to make the paintwork look exceptional without leaving behind the dreaded 'swirl marks'.
What valeting cannot remove is fine to medium scratches in the paintwork caused often by driving through country lanes and incorrect washing methods. This is where detailing and paint correction is required. Another common issue with paintwork is bird droppings appearing to eat through the paintwork, this is also not something that can be fixed through valeting.
Detailing
Detailing is the restoration and protection of a vehicle’s paintwork.
Whereas valeting is the process of removing dirt and enhancing the existing finish, detailing is about removing as many imperfections in paintwork. This is to bring out an exceptional level of gloss and smoothness to the paint. It is optional but recommended to apply a long term protection as the final stage.
Rose Detailing offers services and protection available for almost every part of your car. Coatings to windscreens, rubber trims, leather and fabric seats, alloy wheels and headlights are all available.
Key differences between valeting and detailing are apparent with the amount of time each service takes to be carried out. The Full Valet can be completed in as little as 2 -3 hours whilst certain details can be in excess of 2-3 days. Further information can be found in the Services page.
